Courses at Year 10 Level

The Flying Start Program has been designed to help people who are seventeen years of age and over embark on a course of study which will take their level of education to the equivalent of Year 10.  It provides opportunities for career enhancement and personal and academic development.  We intend that the courses should meet the needs of all who choose to join the program and for this reason the content and teaching styles are student-focussed in their approach.

Above all, the courses are designed to be rewarding and enjoyable as many students will choose a Flying Start course simply for the pleasure of accepting an academic challenge and developing new skills.

Successful completion of Flying Start, with a combination of subjects which demonstrate both literacy and numeracy, ensures entry to TAFE for courses requiring year 10, and entrance to the Armed Forces.

Can include:
Flying Start Certificate
Certificate of General Education for Adults Level II; National Training Authority
Certificate of General Education for Adults Level III; National Training Authority

Local and international students needing these levels or this background preparation.

2 semesters in the subjects selected or, 1 semester, converting to the,
Flying Start Bridging to Year 12: 1 semester.

4.5 hours each subject per week
Grid classes: (1 x 1 hr and 2 x 1.75hr sessions each week) or
Block classes: (1 x 3.5 hrs once a week)

Term 1: 1 February 2010
Term 2: 19 April 2010
Term 3: 19 July 2010
Term 4: 11 October 2010
